Community Guidelines

1. Our Community
Ijtima brings together attendees of the annual gathering — providing schedules, programmes, live updates, and community engagement in one place. These Community Guidelines ("Guidelines") establish the standards of conduct expected of all users to ensure a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for everyone.
By using the Ijtima app or website, you agree to follow these Guidelines. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban.
2. Core Principles
- Respect: Treat every member of the community with dignity and courtesy, regardless of their background, age, gender, ethnicity, or beliefs.
- Integrity: Be honest and authentic in your interactions. Do not impersonate others or misrepresent yourself.
- Inclusivity: Foster a welcoming atmosphere where all attendees feel valued and included.
- Safety: Prioritise the physical and emotional safety of all community members.
- Responsibility: Take ownership of your actions and their impact on others.
3. Prohibited Conduct
The following behaviours are strictly prohibited on the Ijtima platform:
3.1 Harassment and Bullying
- Threatening, intimidating, or harassing other users.
- Cyberbullying, stalking, or doxxing (sharing private information without consent).
- Targeted attacks on individuals or groups.
- Repeated unwanted contact or messages.
3.2 Hate Speech and Discrimination
- Content that promotes hatred, violence, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or age.
- Slurs, derogatory language, or dehumanising speech directed at individuals or groups.
- Symbols, imagery, or rhetoric associated with hate groups.
3.3 Harmful Content
- Violent, graphic, or disturbing content.
- Sexually explicit or suggestive content.
- Content that promotes self-harm, suicide, or dangerous activities.
- Misinformation or disinformation that could cause harm.
- Content that exploits or endangers children in any way.
3.4 Spam and Deception
- Spam, unsolicited advertising, or promotional content.
- Phishing attempts or fraudulent schemes.
- Impersonating Ijtima staff, event organisers, or other users.
- Creating multiple accounts to evade bans or restrictions.
- Manipulating engagement metrics or community features.
3.5 Illegal Activity
- Content that promotes or facilitates illegal activities.
- Sharing or distributing copyrighted material without authorisation.
- Soliciting or facilitating the sale of illegal goods or services.
4. Content Standards
When contributing content to the Ijtima platform (including messages, comments, and profile information), please ensure your content:
- Is relevant to the gathering and its community.
- Does not contain personal or private information about others without their consent.
- Does not infringe on anyone's intellectual property rights.
- Is appropriate for a diverse, multi-generational audience.
- Does not contain malicious links, files, or code.
5. Privacy and Personal Information
- Do not share other people's personal information (names, addresses, phone numbers, photos) without their explicit consent.
- Do not screenshot or share private conversations without the consent of all parties involved.
- Respect the privacy of event attendees, speakers, and organisers.
- Do not record or photograph individuals at events without their permission.
6. Reporting Violations
If you encounter content or behaviour that violates these Guidelines, please report it promptly:
- In-app: Use the report feature available on content and user profiles.
- Email: Contact us at support@ijtima.org with details and screenshots where possible.
All reports are reviewed confidentially. We will not reveal the identity of the reporter to the person being reported unless required by law.
7. Enforcement
We take violations of these Guidelines seriously. Depending on the severity and frequency of the violation, we may take the following actions:
- Warning: A formal notice about the violation and a reminder of our Guidelines.
- Content removal: Removal of content that violates these Guidelines.
- Temporary suspension: Temporary restriction of access to community features.
- Permanent ban: Permanent removal from the platform for severe or repeated violations.
- Legal action: In cases of illegal activity, we may report the matter to law enforcement authorities.
We reserve the right to take any action we deem appropriate at our sole discretion. Decisions regarding enforcement are final.
8. Appeals
If you believe an enforcement action was taken against you in error, you may submit an appeal by emailing support@ijtima.orgwith the subject line "Appeal". Include your account details and a clear explanation of why you believe the action was incorrect. We will review your appeal and respond within 14 days.
9. Changes to These Guidelines
We may update these Community Guidelines from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by posting an updated version on this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Guidelines.
